Options for bicycles for children with disabilities

All children want to be able to go out on their bikes. This includes children with physical and/or mental challenges. Huka’s AT collection can enable your child to cycle independently once they are unable to do so on a two-wheeler with training wheels or a regular tricycle. Is independent cycling not possible? We also have a collection of tricycle’s that can be ridden by two people, such as tandems, duo bikes and wheelchair bikes. In short, there are various options for cycling for children with disabilities. We have listed these for you.
1. Our tricycle collection for children
Can your child still cycle independently? Then one of our tricycles is an option.
- The AT-A is for children up to about 5 years old and the AT-B is for children aged 5 and above. The three-wheel design and low centre of gravity make the AT bike extremely manoeuvrable and significantly reduce the risk of falling. This not only makes the bike safer for disabled children, but also allows your son or daughter to cycle with greater confidence and comfort.
- Is an AT bike becoming too small? Then the City tricycle is an option. This depends in part on the inner leg length. In addition, the bike for disabled children can be expanded with various options and accessories to make it suitable for your son or daughter’s situation.

2. Cycling together on a bike for disabled children
Is it unfortunately not possible for your son or daughter to cycle independently? Then you can go out together with our Copilot (tandem for children). This tandem bike is available in two versions: the Copilot and the Copilot 3. In both cases, the accompanying person sits at the rear instead of at the front for an optimal view of the passenger. Are you looking for a bike for disabled children with extra stability?
Then the Copilot 3 could be the solution. Thanks to the third wheel, neither the parent nor the child has to get off when the bike is stationary. The Copilot can be fitted with a backrest and various other additional supports. This allows you to enjoy beautiful bike rides together with your son or daughter. The Orthros duo bike may also be a good option for you. The suitability of the duo bike depends in part on the posture of the passenger.

3. Bicycle and wheelchair in one
Want to enjoy a fun outing together with the unique combination of a bicycle and wheelchair in one? Our Diaz wheelchair bike, which comes standard with a mid-drive motor and hydraulic disc brakes, makes it possible!
Once you arrive at your destination, you can detach the wheelchair from the bicycle. This allows you and your son or daughter to enjoy a carefree day out. The bicycle can be adapted to suit any child. Consider a customised seating system or the addition of a headrest. Thanks to the design of the wheelchair bicycle, pedalling and steering are light and smooth.
